Nagaparan is a small mountainous village in the town of Danglas, province of Abra, PHILIPPINES.  You either have to walk for about an hour to reach the place, or if brave enough, there are few passenger jeepneys delivering locals at least once a day up and down.   Years pass and now, locals have their own single motorcycles navigating the steep roads.  And when I was a kid, I had classmates from this village who walk back and forth everyday just to attend classes.  Talk about dedication and perseverance.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth

I grew up in a very small town.  My childhood was spent running in the rice fields, swimming in the river, climbing trees in the neighborhood and tending to my grandpa’s animals in the farm.  I stayed there until I went to college and eventually left because of my job.

Times go by and people grow and explore new horizons, but I will always go back to where I grew up.  The place where I was born, the place where I had the happiest childhood memories.  And even though I don’t live there anymore, It will always be my home.

I was born and raised here.

Located in the mountainous province of Abra (Cordillera Region of the Philippines) is a small town named Danglas.  Inside my humble town are seven equally-beautiful villages, one of them is the place where I was born- Abaquid.  I was raised here, and didn’t leave until I was seventeen.  My childhood days were spent swimming in the river just walking distance from my grandpa’s house, running in the farm picking fruits.  In the evenings, we would gather at a certain area of our small village sharing scary stories until our parents would call us for dinner.

I miss my childhood days.  Priceless experiences.
